Hall Contracting moved the Eggner Ferry Bridge replacement span from the prep yard at Eddyville Riverport and onto a barge today.

It will not be transported today, but is being loading onto the barges so it can be secured for the trip, said Keith Todd, public information officer for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Engineers and KyTC officials hope to be able to move the steel truss and cranes onto two barges for a 30-mile trip down Lake Barkley, through the Land Between the Lakes Canal and then up Kentucky Lake to the bridge site tomorrow or Saturday, said Todd.

Upon arrival, the truss will be lifted onto the piers, and once it is in place, workers will quickly start placing forms and reinforcing steel, which will be required to pour a new concrete deck on the 322-foot section, said Todd, who added that the concrete will need several days to cure before traffic can be restored.
