To the Editor:

As the co-chairmen for the 2012 Trigg County Relay For Life event, that was held May 11 and 12, we would like to express our appreciation to the whole community for making it a success. This event isn’t just the work of 1 or 2 people, it’s everyone.

There is a core committee made up of some fine, hardworking individuals who spending many hours insuring this event is a possibility. To each of them we thank you for allowing us to serve with you in the planning and carrying out of this event.

To the sponsors – from the “necessary houses”, to the sound, to the corporate ones, your monetary donations enabled us to have all the means needed to host this event.

To the team captains and teams, your hard work all year and the fundraising ideas and activities you performed were great. We were able to eat, shop at the yard sales, eat, adopt a pig, eat, celebrate St Paddy’s, eat, and eat some more.

To the survivors – you are the heart of Relay. We rejoice with seeing you have another “birthday” of survivorship and we celebrate you with the Survivors’ Dinner and the special recognition you have at the Survivors Ceremony and Lap. This year we had survivors ranging from 2 hours to 41 years, and we appreciate each one of you.

To the attendees, the people of Trigg County, and the donors – thank you so much for buying into a community event such as this. Your support was overwhelming as we were able to not only meet but to surpass our goal.

We encourage everyone to take a short break, because plans are already being made for next year. Be thinking about what part you can play in this rewarding and life-saving event. Call us at 270 522-6044 if you want to sign up.

Thank you Trigg County.
