Funeral services for Monroe McGee, 90, of Trigg County, were held on Sunday, May 27, 2012, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Hal Shipley officiated. Burial followed in the East End Cemetery in Cadiz. King’s Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. McGee died of natural causes at 11:37 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1921, in Christian County to the late Benjamin Owen McGee and Mary Bertha Banister McGee.

Monroe was a member of Buffalo Lick Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school and discipleship training teacher. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Ann Stewart McGee, one sister, Lois Ussery; and one daughter, Ann McGee.

He is survived by one son, Anthony McGee (and wife Sharon) of Trigg County; three grandchildren, Jason McGee of Christian County, Chris McGee of Brandenburg and Jennifer McGee of Christian County; seven great-grandchildren Breanne McGee, Brooklyn McGee, Bethany Knight, Mikayla McGee, Elizabeth McGee, Jack McGee and Amelia McGee; two nephews, James Michael Stewart (and wife Diane) of Trigg County and Joe Stewart (and wife Dawn) of Trigg County.

Pallbearers were Carl Ray Miller, Danny Goodwin, Carl Hendricks, Edward Ethridge, Cliff Gray, Mike Davis, Joseph Stewart, Kelly Hendricks, Ragon Stewart, Corey Goodwin and Dalton Hendricks. Music was provided by Peggy Hendricks, pianist and the Miller and Goodwin Family, vocalists.
