Mr. Outland died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. He was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church where he was a song leader for 36 years. He was a retired farmer. He served on the Farm Credit Advisory Board for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kittie Dell Lancaster Outland; his parents, William Acie and Birdie Futrell Outland; and one brother, Rev. A. J. Outland.
He is survived by one son, Gayle Outland (and wife Shearon) of Gracey; grandchildren, Jennifer and Michael Wallace of Big Rock, Tenn., Brad and Amanda Outland of Gracey; great-grandchildren, Weston Wallace, Hayden Wallace, Payton Outland and Austin Outland.
Pallbearers were Tommy Adams, Carl Ray Miller, Harold Dean Meredith, Jason Outland, Jim Bob Outland and Larry Bailey. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons and Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Locust Grove Baptist Church. Music was provided by Vicki Bridges, organist; Peggy Hargis, pianist; and Ronnie Sadler, music director.
