At the request of Trigg County School Superintendent Travis Hamby, the board members will likely remove restriction on dancing in TCPS property at the second reading at their next board meeting. The policy in question is 05.3, and is on page 54 of the policy book.
The policy in question reads: “There shall be no dancing on school property unless District students are the chief participants and the event is school-sponsored and supervised by school personnel.”
At a previous meeting, the board allowed Toni Martinazzi, who organized the “Dance For a K-9” event to raise money for a drug dog for the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office, to use the Trigg County Primary/Intermediate School Gymnasium.
“We’re very comfortable with the recommended changes,” said Sumner, who added that the changes would be effective immediately upon second reading and approval at the next board meeting, should the board choose to approve them at that point. “The majority of them are legal requirements.”
