Funeral services for Maybelle Breshears Cortner, 96, of Cerulean, were held on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Gary Mitchell officiated. Burial followed in the Cerulean Cemetery in Cerulean. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Maybelle Cortner died of natural causes at 8:25 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1916, in Trigg County to the late Mack and Artis Stewart Brashears.

She was a member of Cerulean Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Maybelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Nuel Cortner; one son, Billy Joe Cortner; and one grandson, Michael Moran.

She is survived by three daughters, Bettye Cortner of Cerulean, Peggy Cain (and husband Rex) of Cadiz and Carolyn Cortner of Louisville; two sons, Jerry Cortner (and wife Margie) of Princeton and David Cortner (and wife Lynn) of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Todd Cain, Kimberly Sans, Damon Cortner, Jeremy Cortner, Kelley Newsom and Jessica Daniels; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Todd Cain, Justin Cain, Todd Sans, Jeremy Cortner, Damon Cortner, Casey Newsom and Jamie Daniels.
