Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews (above) were making “arm’s-length” inspections of the Lake Barkley Bridge on Monday, and will likely be doing so the rest of the week, restricting traffic to one lane.
KyTC spokesman Keith Todd calls it an “arm’s-length” inspection; that is, there will be an inspector within an arm’s length of every part of the bridge. He says the detailed inspection of the structure will probably take all week and will require a daytime lane and load width restriction.
“Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers in this work zone between approximately 8 a.m. … and 3:00 p.m. each day,” Todd said in a press release. “Due to the use of a snooper truck to assist with the inspection, this work zone will include a strictly enforced eight-foot maximum load width.”
Todd also asked that drivers use caution while crossing the bridge, as there will be KyTC equipment, flaggers and inspection personnel close to the traffic.
