GOLF: Choate wins at College Golf Showcase

The Western Kentucky College Golf Showcase was held June 11-12 at Drake Creek Golf Course in Ledbetter. The tournament featured college boys/girls teams as well as high school golfers from around the area.

Trigg County’s Nick Choate won the high school boys division, shooting even par 72 on day 1 and 1-under 71 on day 2, totaling 143. Choate won the tournament by eight strokes over Wes Averill of St. Mary (Paducah), also tying the low score posted by the winner of the college division. The college mens division was won by Hunter York of Murray State, who posted 143 for both days.

Caldwell County’s Emma Talley, a University of Alabama signee, won the women’s college division, shooting a two-day score of 139. The high school girls division was won by Sydney Trimble of Heath, posting a 151 for the tournament.
