The Friends of Lake Barkley sponsored the annual fireworks show at Lake Barkley Beach, as they have done in the past.
He said they’ve had as many as 4,000 people turn out, and speculated that the heat wave – which brought temperatures into the triple digits – and the ban on private fireworks contributed, as he said some people likely took the ban on private fireworks to mean that the show was canceled.
The Friends of Lake Barkley, as they have in the past few years, sponsored the event by contributing about $7,500 for the actual fireworks, a number that Jordan said was consistent with previous years.
The fireworks show at Lake Barkley Beach was the only one allowed this year, as there is a ban on private fireworks on account of the dry, hot weather that was still in effect at press time.
