Mr. Sholar died on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his home in Cadiz.
He was born on March 11, 1930, in Trigg County to William Clifton Sholar and Lonnie Mae Sowell Sholar.
He was a retired educator. He began his teaching career in Trigg County at the New Hope School and after returning from the Korean War, where he had served as a librarian, he began serving as the librarian in the Trigg County School System and later went on to retire from Murray State University, where he taught in the Library of Science Department for 22 years.
He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he had taught Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Sholar.
He is survived by one brother, Belmont Sholar of Hopkinsville; one nephew, Keith Sholar (and wife Ginnie ) of Hopkinsville; one niece, Marsha Bourne of Hopkinsville; two great-nieces, Kelsey and Courtney Bourne of Hopkinsville; and one great-nephew, Jamison Sholar of Hopkinsville.
Serving as pallbearers were Gilbert Mathis, Freddie Sowell, Wesley Wallace, Clay Boren, Larry Cherry and James Menser. Music was provided by David Ezell, pianist and vocalist.
