Athletes ages 50 and over are encouraged to participate in the events. The games are for those who love competition, serious athletes or those who simply enjoy staying fit. The National Senior Games Association sanctions the Kentucky Senior Games.
The multi-sport event allows athletes to compete in: a 5K, archery, badminton, basketball, bowling, cycling, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, a racewalk, racquetball, shuffleboard, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field and volleyball. Participants will also be able to enjoy special events such as a fun day, dance and the opening ceremony.
Registration for the games is now open; the deadline to sign up is Friday, August 31, 2012.
