Dick was born in Birmingham, Ala., to the late Richard Aubrey and Lula Rickett Mills. He graduated from Auburn University, Auburn, Ala., with a degree in Industrial Management and a M.B.A. in Executive Management from Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz. Dick served in the United States Army and graduated fro the Army Language School, Monterey, Calif. Subsequently, he served in the army as a Mandarin Chinese linguist in Asia.
Dick dedicated over forty years to administrative management in both the public and private business sectors where he developed and implemented unique and trend setting programs, created comprehensive high yield medical cost management programs, and designed managed group advisory concepts for a managed care industry.
Dick’s love of travel led him to trips across the United States, Canada, Hawaii, Europe, Caribbean Islands and Bermuda. Another hobby was genealogy. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Dick is survived by his wife, Emily Mills; one daughter, Suzanne Eades; and two granddaughters, Emma and Charlotte, who both became his main pleasure in life. He is also survived by one brother, John William and his family, who live in Ft. Myers, Fla.
