Not a lot of political signs exist for Hubbard, a former Democratic congressman. The longtime attorney said before his speech at the annual Fancy Farm Picnic that he is running on his name recognition and record and does not believe he needs a lot of advertising to let the voters know who is.
Hubbard, a Murray native, served from 1975 to 1993 in the U.S. House of Representatives. He said Saturday that an unofficial poll shows him winning every county but Trigg in the seven-county district that includes Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman and Lyon counties.
Humphries, his Republican opponent and Trigg County judge-executive, said he has never seen that poll and has a different opinion of the election results.
“According to the folks I’ve talked to, it looks like a win for Stan Humphries,” he said before the speaking kicked off on Saturday.
