More candidates have filed to run for Cadiz and Trigg County’s non-partisan elected positions, including a challenger for the Cadiz City Council, said Trigg County Clerk Dorris McGill.

Gary Polete, currently a member of the Cadiz/Trigg County Tourist Commission, filed last week to run for Cadiz City Council. He said that his term with the Commission ends this year, and that if he’s elected to the City Council he will not seek another term on that board to avoid any appearance of conflict of interest.

Current council members Frankie Phillips, Todd King and Manuel Brown have all filed. Current council members Susan Bryant, Bob Noel and Reginia Wilkerson have not filed yet, said McGill. All Cadiz City Council members have two-year terms, and in each election held on even-numbered years, the six candidates with the most votes comprise the City Council.

The deadline for filing for this and other non-partisan positions is Tuesday, Aug. 14.

All of the members of the Trigg County Board of Education that are up for election have filed.
