Private William Greathouse, Reverend Newton Bush, Harlan “Colonel” Sanders, Mary Settles and Grandpa Jones, along with Paducah-based musician Nathan Blake Lynn performed for people at Lake Barkley State Resort Park Thursday evening as part of the Kentucky Chautauqua® program’s 20th anniversary.

Greathouse was played by Cynthiana resident Harry Smith, Bush was played by Louisville resident Robert Bell, Sanders was played by Nicholasville resident L. Henry Dowell, Settles was played by Lexington resident Janet Scott and Jones was played by Frankfort resident David Hurt.

For two decades, the program has helped tell Kentucky’s story through interesting dramatic characters, featuring actors who portray people important to the state’s history and culture.

The celebration held Aug. 1 – 5 at Lake Barkley State Resort Park and at other Kentucky state parks, also commemorated the sesquicentennial of the Civil War and the bicentennial of the War of 1812.
