Idea for communicating our most important issues

Here is what should be an easy method for “we the people” to tell our elected officials what are the most serious issues we would like them to address during their next term in office. On election day, when we enter the voting booth, have another ballot that lists the top 10 most serious issues that Washington/ Kentucky need to address.

For instance this November, as it is a Presidential election, the ballot would pertain to Washington and would list the following choices – economy, education, balanced budget, taxes, immigration, health care, entitlements, term limits, environment, campaign reform.

Behind the curtain, each voter would select those five items that they feel are the most important to fix/change. Once tabulated (top five selected), this would give our politicians a clear message on what they need to do. Then we can evaluate their performance and decide whether to re-elect them.

Futhermore, this list would be generated by only those citizens who have the right to vote and use that right accordingly. Kentucky’s list would be created and voted on during the next election period, so there is no confusion about who is responsible for what.
