GOLF: Wildcat golfers take third in 17-team Dawson Springs Invitational

Trigg County’s golf team continued its early-season strong play last week in a pair of matches.

Saturday, Trigg’s boys competed in the Dawson Springs Invitational and finished third out of 17 teams. The Wildcats shot a team score of 309, three strokes behind Henderson County and Hopkins County Central.

Nick Choate led Trigg in second place with an even-par round of 72. Cole Gardner finished third at 73, Kullen Garner and Carter Sholar each shot 82 and Jackson Vinson shot 85.

Last Tuesaday, Trigg’s boys finished in the middle of a three-team match at Mayfield. Ballard Memorial won the match with a team score of 156, two strokes ahead of Trigg and well ahead of the host Cardinals (177).

Choate was Trigg’s leader, tying for medalist honors with a nine-hole score of 38. Sholar shot 39, followed by Gardner at 40, Garner at 41, Vinson at 42, Jake MacNab at 47 and Chris Little at 49.
