GOLF: Trigg golfers tie for third at Hopkins Central tourney

Trigg County measured itself against some of the region’s best golf teams Saturday at Hopkins County Central’s Storm Invitational, and the Wildcats asserted themselves as a contender.

Trigg shot a team score of 314, tied for third place with Henderson County and Calloway County. Daviess County and University Heights tied at the top at 309, with Daviess winning the tiebreaker.

Nick Choate and Cole Gardner led the ‘Cats, tying for 11th place with 18-hole scores of 78. Kullen Garner shot 79, followed by Carter Sholar at 81 and Jackson Vinson at 99.

Last Tuesday, Trigg shot a nine-hole team score of 148 to defeat Caldwell County (160) at Princeton Country Club.

Gardner was medalist with a 1-under-par 35. Choate shot 36, followed by Sholar a 37, Garner at 40, Vinson and Jake MacNab at 44 apiece and Chris Little at 49.
