Mr. Pace died on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012.
Mr. Pace graduated from the University of Evansville where he was a member and past president of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and later received his Master’s degree from Indiana University. He went to teach at the Bartholomew County Schools in Columbus, Ind. and later retired from the Metro School District of Mt. Vernon, Ind. after 30 years in education.
In Mt. Vernon, Ind. he taught Biology, Driver’s Education, Physical Education and Health at Mt. Vernon High School. He also served as the Athletic Director and coached Football, Wrestling and Track. He served in the United States Marines and was also a member of the Local Marine Corps League. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Cadiz Presbyterian Chapel and also volunteered at Boots Randolph Golf Course.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemor Jackson and Rebecca Lark Lenn Pace; twin brother, Elbert Pace and brother, Gerald Pace.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann Purcell Pace of Cadiz; one son, Thomas N. Pace (and wife June) of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; one daughter, Beth Ann Devillez (and husband Chris) of Huntingburg, Ind.; five grandchildren, Rebecca Ann, Jessica Ellen and Sarah Jane Pace, Andrew Phillip and Lydia Ann Devillez; mother-in-law, Bettye Jane Purcell of Evansville, Ind.; two sisters-in-law, Annette Pace and Judy Pace, both of Evansville, Ind.; and one brother-in-law, Bob Purcell of Evansville, Ind.
