Tuesday morning, Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam said 16-year-old Brittany Nicole Shafer and 17-year-old Quentin Dean Bird were located and detained by law enforcement in Cullman County, Ala., and that their parents went there to pick them up and bring them home.
Tuesday, Cullman County Sheriff’s Deputy David Dover confirmed that the department detained two juveniles – one male and one female – from Kentucky at approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at a Cullman-area rest stop, but could not confirm their identities.
Dover said the female juvenile was in the intensive care unit at Cullman Regional Medical Center due to being “under the influence.” Dover said the male individual had been in juvenile custody. Dover said he was unable to provide further information because the individuals were juveniles.
Monday, Burnam said the Federal Bureau of Investigation had joined the case. Early Tuesday morning, the initial report from Trigg County Dispatch was that Shafer and Bird were safe.
At press time, Burnam said the Sheriff’s Department had no charges pending for either Bird or Shafer.
