Paul Fourshee of SKIT says they always have fun putting it on. “We have a really good time. It’s not just that we re-enact … these individuals, there’s the process of researching them and writing the scripts, finding what fits the period,” he said.
The event will be held at East End Cemetery Sept. 14 – 16, and ticket sales are restricted to 60 each evening and 30 on Sunday. Evening performances will entail a box picnic supper under tents in the cemetery and a brief tour of about eight grave sites, and at each site, a costumed actor will play the “dearly departed.”
“This event is very popular and sells out each year,” said director Portia Ezell. “I think it’s so popular because people can relate to the very interesting lives and sometimes deaths portrayed by our actors.”
Fourshee said none of the SKIT players can take credit for the idea.
