The upcoming Presidential election is actually an identity check for us all. Psychologist Sheldon Kopp says, “All of the significant battles are waged within the self.”
I profess to my fellow citizens that there are two obvious choices we can make as far as identity and ideology. We must decide if we are victors or victims.
This may not be any clearer. If you are a self-described “victor” – self-reliant, and believe your fate rests in the inalienable rights endowed to you by your creator with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – kudos to you. You have already won the battle of self. You should vote as such.
If you are a “victim,” and therefore need or want someone to look after you or provide for you and to control every facet of your life, perhaps you should do a reality check and wage this battle a bit further.
Isaiah 40:31 says, “They shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” I feel these are words from our creator, who would not want us to live lives of mediocrity, but live our lives in the divine heritage he has willed us. However, one should not expect a hand-me-down life of entitlements from the government.
Your choice: victor or victim? May God bless and guide you in your decision.
