Mrs. Oliver died following a short illness at 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.
She was born on May 8, 1923, in Cadiz to the late Fount Paul “Doc” and Mary Lucy McCormick Oliver.
Virginia Oliver was a member of New Light Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and worked as a babysitter for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Denford Oliver; one brother, Maxie Oliver; three sisters, Iva Oliver, Lois Pennington, Lena “Jack” Proffitt; one daughter, Mackie Oliver; and one son-in-law, Jimmy Stewart.
She is survived by one son, Roy Randall (and wife Debbie Ezell) Oliver of Ashley, Ill.; two daughters, Hariette Stewart of Oak Grove and Iva Dawson (and husband Roy) of Cadiz; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Dennis and Stacey Carneyhan, Scott, Cody and Mathew Stewart and Tony Dawson. Music was provided by Stacey Stewart, vocalist.
