Mr. Martin died of natural causes on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Lee County Memorial Hospital in Fort Meyers, Fla.
LeRoy Martin was born on Aug. 22, 1931, in Marathon City, Wisc., to the late Joseph Martin and Susan Martin.
LeRoy worked for General Electric and Wellman Thermal Systems for over 33 years before starting his own business, Wire Equipment Sales, representing MAG. Leroy joined the United States Army out of high school as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Station at Fort Campbell and served 3 years. He later joined the Indiana National Guard where he retired as a Master Sergeant with HHC, 38th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jean West Martin; four brothers, Harold “Crappy” Martin, Clarence Martin, Andrew “Pepper” Martin and Joseph “Sep” Martin; two sisters, Dorothy Kocki and Alvira “Vi” Markham; and one son, Perry LeRoy Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kay” Martin of North Fort Meyers, Fla.; three sisters, Lillian “Lil” Johnson of Saint Paul, Minn., Anita “Nitzie” Kraus (and husband LeRoy) of Marshfield, Wisc. and Mary Alice “Sis” Brown of West Allis, Wisc.; two sons, LeRoy “Benji” Martin II. (and wife Karen) of Shelbyville, Ind. and Andrew Joseph “A.J. Martin (and wife Tonya) of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Sabrina Parker of Lewisburg, Tenn., Debra Sturgeon (and husband LeRoy) of Pittsboro, Ind. and Tamra McConnell (and husband Steve) of Greenfield, Ind.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
