Gary Polete, a member of the Cadiz/Trigg County Tourist Commission who also helps organize the event, said the next Civil War Days is scheduled for March 22 – 24, 2013 – the weekend before Easter – although it’s still in the planning stages.
However, the Friends of Lake Barkley State Park still haven’t decided whether or not they want to be in charge of the event, said Tourist Commission Executive Director Bill Stevens. “I kind of got the sense that they’re split right now,” he said.
Polete said it is an independent committee putting on the event, with the assistance of the state park and the friends group, but it isn’t a “Friends event.”
There was already a planning session last month, and another one is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Lake Barkley State Resort Park – where next year’s event will take place, said Polete. He specified that next year’s event will take place at the old LBSRP soccer fields, and added that they’ll know more after the Sept. 20 meeting.
