Betty Hicks died following a short illness at 5:18 p.m. at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1928, in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Ellis Williams and Mary Ethel Bruce Williams.
Betty was a member of the Ponderosa Baptist Church and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She retired with 32 years in education teaching, served as school lunch supervisor, and as director of pupil personnel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David T. Hicks; and two brothers, Bruce Williams and David Williams.
She is survived by one sister, Judy Woosley of Bowling Green; three sons, Mark Hicks (and wife Madlyn) of Baton Rouge, La., Neil Hicks (and wife Trudy) of Luling, La. and Jimmy Hicks (and wife Miranda) of Luling, La.; two daughters, Ellen Spivey (and husband Mark) of Lexington and Robbin Friloux (and husband Gerard) of Destrehan, La.; 12 grandchildren, Rhett, Amy, Adam, Taylor, Josh, Matt, Maggie, Allison, Steven, Ashley, Hunter and Erin; and two great-grandchildren Lilly and Evaline.
