Trigg County Extension Agent Janeen Tramble says the annual event has coincided with Farm Safety Week for at least the past several years. For the first few years, it was held at the farm of Bruce Sanders in Cerulean, but for roughly a decade it’s been held at Mize’s farm.
Tramble said the event was started after an article in Progressive Farmer Magazine written by a man who lost one his children in a tractor accident. After that, Progressive Farmer Magazine decided to start Farm Safety Days and the Progressive Agriculture Foundation.
“They had an article that a man had sent in … several years ago,” Tramble said. “He had his children riding on his tractor with him on the fender, and one of them fell off and got under the bush hog.”
