Nick Choate and Madison Chaney will represent Trigg County in state championship competition Oct. 3-5 as an individual qualifier.

Chaney shot an 18-hole score of 82, good for eighth place during Monday’s 1st Region Championship at Murray Country Club.

The top two teams and top eight individual scores from non-qualifying teams advance to state, which will be held in Bowling Green.

Calloway County won the girls event, followed by second team qualifier Marshall County. Anna Hack of Calloway was the individual champion with a score of 67.

Other Trigg girls golfers were Karli Bush (113) and Alex Ethridge (124).

Choate shot 71 Tuesday at Murray, and with players still on the course at press time, Trigg head coach Jim Garnett estimated Choate would finish second and Trigg’s boys team would take fourth, missing state as a team by two spots.
