The John L. Street Library again would like to welcome the afterschool students to the library. This year like last year we will be offering our basement meeting room as an afterschool youth center for students.
We need each student to sign in each day so we may keep a count of the number of students using this program. The students may only be upstairs of the library if they are: using a computer, working on research for a project, reading or looking for materials to read. While upstairs student must obey the rules posted there.
We do have a few rules we must enforce for the basement:
No bad language; no running; no arguing or fighting; no hitting, kicking, or other bodily contact; no sitting or standing on the tables; no talking back to the person or persons in charge; no throwing of objects; no hanging out around the outside of the library; no yelling.
If you make a mess you will be asked to clean it up. If you are asked to pick up something or put something up please respect the staff by doing what is asked of you. No hanging out in the rest rooms; respect the library staff.
If a student is called down more than three times a parent will be called to come pick up the student. We have a three strike policy if a parent is called on three times to pick up their student the student will not be able to return for the rest of the school year. We would also appreciate the donation of board games, or card games for the students to use.
Please remember we are not a daycare and students may leave the library at any time to go other places. All students must go upstairs at 5 p.m. when the basement area closes. Students must be picked up no later than 5:25 Monday- Friday. If you have any questions please call Pam at 270-522-6301.
