Over the next five years, the county will spend more than $350,000 on a new radio, computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and mapping system for the county’s 9-1-1 Department, roughly $48,000 to pave seven county roads and more than $20,000 on radios for the volunteer fire departments.

After a motion by Magistrate Rick Nelson and a second by Magistrate Larry Lawrence, the Trigg County Fiscal Court unanimously voted to spend $350,266.29 on a new radio, CAD and mapping system after looking at the only bid, which was from GeoConex of Knoxville, Tenn. They have presented their wares previously before the county’s Communications Board.

Trigg County 9-1-1 Dispatch Director Stephanie Sauppe described the new system and it will bring the dispatch center up to date.

“It is a CAD system, which the county does not have. It is also a telephone system, which is required,” Sauppe said. “It will be a mapping system, it will be the mobile mapping system and the addressing equipment, so it will take care of the whole shebang.”

Trigg County Judge Executive Stan Humphries said it could be upgraded annually and can be paid off in five years with a lease agreement, and that the system would be the county’s after that five-year period.
