At a special-called meeting last Tuesday evening that lasted about three minutes, the Cadiz City Council approved contracts for a chain-link fence around the building and for the installation of fiber-optic wiring into the building. Both contracts were approved 4 – 0; Cadiz City Council members Susan Bryant and Manuel Brown were absent.
“We had to do this before we could sit down and do the final negotiations,” said Cadiz Mayor Lyn Bailey.
There was only a single bid for the fence, from Clarksville Fencing for $24,500. The City Council chose the lowest of two bids for fiber-optic cable installation, from Philpot-based Watts Brothers Cable Construction for $27,078. Cadiz-based Whitten Communications submitted a bid of $51,932.
The City will pay for both of those projects but will be reimbursed by Transcraft as part of the proposed lease-purchase agreement.
