Myrt Atwood died following a long battle with cancer at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at her home.
She was born on March 9, 1942, in Trigg County to the late Virgil “Cotton” Arlington and Virgie Grace “Gracie” Hutchison Hinson.
Myrt Atwood was a member of Pugh Flat Baptist Church where she was involved in the Ladies Outreach. She retired after 51 years as a beautician in Trigg County.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Larry Thurman; and one brother, Dempsey Hinson.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Atwood of Cadiz; one brother, Sam Hinson of Bowling Green, one son, Barry Thurman (and wife Lacie) of Cadiz; one daughter, Misty Barnes (and husband Billy) of Cadiz; two step-sons, Jason Atwood and Cameron Atwood, both of Montrose, Colo.; one step-daughter, Heather Mackie of Deloris, Colo.;
four grandchildren, Dalton and Blake Barnes, Catlin Danick and Shai Mason; one great-grandchild, Dakota Storm Walker; eight step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Serving as pallbearers were Joe Parkinson, Donnie Merrick, Catlin Danick, Pete McGee, Jack McGee, Butch McGee and Scotty Yewell.
Music was provided by Billy Barnes, vocalist and Kristee Smith, pianist.
