The Wildcats, host of the two-team boys tournament, topped Lyon County 13-0, marking the third straight double-digit win over the Lyons this season.
The ‘Cats were led by Clark Adams with four goals and an assist and Blaine Alexander with two goals and five assists. Romaine Cunningham added a hat trick, Ben Wigand scored two goals and two assists, Colten Bridges had a goal and an assist, Seth McNichols netted a goal and Reagan Hyde had an assist. Goalkeeper Austin Calhoun recorded a shutout, and the contest ended at halftime due to the 10-goal mercy rule.
“We’re thrilled to win another district championship,” Wildcat head coach Josh Nichols said. “Regardless of the circumstances, you can’t take it for granted. Sitting on three straight feels pretty good, and we’d like to keep it going.”
The win maintained Trigg’s undefeated record at 13-0-4, and Nichols said he feels his team is playing really well heading into the region tournament.
