“We felt like it was one of our best games from beginning to end, and I know it was our best road game,” Trigg head coach Coby Lewis said. “A lot of people might question the opponent, but regardless, we did a lot of things right. We wanted to play good football on the road, which we had yet to do for an entire game.”
Trigg racked up over 300 yards of offense in the first half and scored five touchdowns – three on runs by Jayven Jones (10, 1 and 63 yards) and two on passes by Luke McKenzie, a 52-yarder to Dee Murphy and 40 yards to David Wease.
“Luke is seeing lots of different things and looking for what’s open,” Lewis said. “He’s going through progressions really well and showing lots of improvement. Jayven’s really starting to coming into being a running back after not really carrying much before this season. We feel really good with him, Chris Acree and Maurice Powell back there, and Austin Durham has been getting some nice touches.”
