Trigg County’s 2012 Relay For Life earned a first place ranking in the state from the American Cancer Society in Kentucky and the Mid-South area of Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana last week.

The ranking was in the category of per capita money raised for communities with a population of 10,000 – 14,999. Trigg County’s Relay For Life raised $9.19 per person this year, with a total net income of $124,806.

“We are very proud of our volunteers in Trigg County,” said Susan Hurt, Community Representative for the American Cancer Society. “Everyone worked extremely hard to make this Relay For Life event successful, and these high national rankings are proof that their work paid off.”

Dannye Wagner, who has co-chaired Trigg County Relay For Life in the past, said the kick-off meeting for the 2013 Relay For Life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 29, at the Trigg County Senior Citizens Center.

The 2013 Relay For Life in Trigg County has been scheduled for May 10 – 11 at Perdue Field at Trigg County High School. Wagner says Kathy Payton and Pam Alexander will be the co-chairs next year.
