Vinson said he pronounced Captain Shawn, Hogan, 28, originally of Salem, N.H., dead at Trigg County Hospital Wednesday at about 6:15 p.m. from multiple blunt force injuries to the chest and abdominal areas.
The accident happened at about 5:20 p.m. at Turkey Bay, but Hogan and seven of his friends arrived there that morning, said Vinson, who also said that Hogan’s all-terrain vehicle overturned backwards on top of him.
Those who were riding with him put him in a private vehicle and tried to take him to Trigg County Hospital, and then they met the ambulance near the intersection of Ky. 272 and U.S. 68/Ky. 80, said Vinson, who added that his friends tried to perform “advanced resuscitative measures” and that the majority of them are probably “advanced medics.”
The U.S. Forest Service is continuing to investigate the accident.
