The 10th reunion of Hanberry School was held on Oct. 6, 2012 at Bethesda United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Hanberry School was a one-room school located on Ky. 139 N. of Cadiz. The school opened in 1893 and was consolidated in 1942. The first reunion was held in 1987. There are 31 former students still living, but only ten were able to attend the 2012 reunion. All six of one family still living and attended, were Mary Wood Henderson, Grace Wood Allen Calhoun and Greta Imogene Wood Bunch, all of Cadiz; Eugene Wood of Princeton, Donald Wood of Fairfield, Ill. and Patsy Wood Sisk of Princeton. Others in attendance were, Raymond Stone, Juanita Stone Guier, Louina P’Pool Marlowe and William “Bunk” Adams. Spouses attending were, Kelsie Calhoun, Curley Bunch, Phyllis P’Pool Wood, Linda Edwards Wood, Margaret Stone, Dolly Adams and one guest, Vicki Guier.
It was a very special day, reminiscing the past, a short program and catered meal was enjoyed. We all wish to thank the Bethesda Church for the use of their Fellowship Hall. The same place and committee will meet in October 2014.
