Happy Halloween!! I hope everyone has a safe and fun filled night. “Pam’s Pick” this week is a Scarpetta novel. “The Bone Bed” by Patricia Cornwell, will make a nice read for a Halloween night. Scarpetta is haunted by someone from her past as she tracks a killer.

New Fiction: “NYPD Red” by James Patterson & Marshall Karp, someone is killing Hollywood icons and Detectives Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald know there’s no way of telling what a killer this deranged will do next. (regular & large print)

“Last Scene Alive” by Charlaine Harris, this is an Aurora Teagarden mystery. Roe is again after a killer but this time she maybe one of his targets too.

“The Unspoken” by Heather Graham, this is book three in the Krewe of Hunters: Second Krewe series. Veteran divers are dieing as they explore the freighter, Jerry McGuen that sunk in 1898 in Lake Michigan. It was carrying an ill-gotten sarcophagus of an Egyptian sorcerer. Now rumors are spreading that ancient demons have awakened.

“The Virgin Cure” by Ami McKay, this is the story of a young girl abandoned on the streets of Post-Civil War New York City. Moth is sold as a servant by her mother. Moth befriends Dr. Sadie who hopes she can protect Moth from falling prey to a terrible myth known as the “virgin cure.”

“The Scottish Prisoner” by Diana Gabaldon, this is a masterpiece of epic history, wicked deceit, and scores that can only be settled in blood.

“Seconds Away” by Harlan Coben, this is the second book in the Mickey Bolitar series. When tragedy strikes Mickey will protect his loved ones. But how can he protect them when he’s not even sure who or what he’s protecting them from.

“The Cutting Edge” by Linda Howard, this is a classic romance. Brett is sent to LA to crack a case of embezzlement. When he fall in love with Tessa their love is perfect. Is it too perfect to last?

New Christian Fiction: “When Hope Blossoms” by Kim Vogel Sawyer, this is a love story that speaks to the heart. Tim left the Mennonite family years ago so when Amy and her three children moved next door he was not pleased to have the Old Order Mennonite family. Will the past hurts be a barrier between them?

“A Love Forbidden” by Kathleen Morgan, this is the second book in the Heart of the Rockies series. Shiloh wants to teach the Ute Indians. But when she is caught in the cross fire between the Utes, and the US government and a half-Utes childhood friend trouble begins.

“When Love Comes My Way” by Lori Copeland, this is a love story about redemption, forgiveness, and renewed spiritual awakenings. ⌘Tess wakes from a wagon accident to discover she has lost her memory. As she recovers she loses her heart to the handsome lumber jack Jake. (regular & large print)

New Biographies: “Catherine the Great” by Robert Massie, this is the story of a young German princess who traveled to Russia at fourteen and rose to become one of the most remarkable, and powerful women in history.

“Bad Habits: Confessions of a Recovering Catholic” by Jenny McCarthy, this is McCarthy’s journey from an all-girls Catholic school to Playmate of the Year, to bestselling author and on to her own talk show.

“The Man Who Saved the Union” by H.W. Brands, this is the story of Ulysses Grant. Who discovered he was a genius at battle, and how he propelled the Union to victory in the Civil War.

New Non-fiction: “Home Cooking Basics” by Southern Living, this is a complete illustrated guide to southern cooking made simple.

“The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book” by the experts at Mayo Clinic Cancer Center. This is a great book for anyone going through breast cancer or has a family member or friend going through breast cancer.

“Ike’s Bluff: President Eisenhower’s Secret Battle to Save the World” by Evan Thomas, the story of Eisenhower as a crafty politician who navigated the treacherous waters of the early Cold War period with guile and cleverness.

“100 Landmarks of the World” by Beverley Jollands, this is a journey in pictures to the most fascinating landmarks around the globe.

“When America First Met China” by Eric Jay Dolin, this is an exciting story of smugglers, sea pirates and dueling clipper ships in the 1700’s.

“Change Your Words Change Your Life” by Joyce Meyer, this is the understanding the power of the words we speak each day.

“Sacred Places of Kentucky” by Amanda Hervey & Rev. Roger Jasper, photography by Wes & Stacey Battoclette, from Ashland to Paducah this book has 44 of the most beautiful churches in Kentucky.
