Trigg qualified three for state cross country

Three members of the Trigg County High School cross country team will compete this Saturday in the Class AA State Championship meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

Katie Coons, J.B. Hendricks and Matt Chinn each qualified Saturday in the 1st Region Championship meet at Logan County.

Coons finished 27th in the girls race with a time of 24 minutes, 28.9 seconds. In the boys event, Hendricks finished 16th in 18:57.8, and Chinn was 19th in 19:07.8.

Coons’ time at region ranked 184th out of 225 runners who qualified for state. The boys race features 241 qualifiers, with Hendricks’ time ranking 193th and Chinn’s 155th.

At region, Trigg’s girls team finished seventh out of eight teams. Other Lady Wildcat runners were:

Bethany Morgan, 28th, 24:29.2; Libby Redd, 37th, 25:42.6; Ashlyn Hatfield, 38th, 25:45.9; Koryn Hatfield, 41st, 26:06.7; Morgan Hendricks, 46th, 26:36.3; Mallorie Godair, 53rd, 27:36.3.

Trigg’s boys finished seventh of nine teams at region. Other Wildcat runners were:

Garrett Brown, 49th, 21:43.6; John Chinn, 50th, 21:44.9; Caleb Martin, 59th, 23:55.6.
