Funeral services for Carroll “Mack” Kennedy, 82, of Cadiz, were held on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Mike Wimberly officiated. Burial followed in the Hurricane Baptist Church Cemetery in Trigg County. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Carroll Kennedy died of natural causes at 4:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on May 11, 1930, in Trigg County to Durwood Belmont and Clarice Henderson Kennedy.

Carroll Kennedy was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and served as song leader for over 30 years. He was a United States Marine veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He retired as a steel mill worker with 39 years of service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Hettie Maria Roth; six brothers, Audrey Gene Kennedy, David Kennedy, Carloss Kennedy, Lucian Kennedy, Wade Kennedy and Robert Louis “Bob” Kennedy; one daughter, Kathy Birdsong; one granddaughter, Sarah Lynne Kennedy; and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Turner.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Litchfield Kennedy of Cadiz; one sister, Edna Terrell (and husband Charles) of Cadiz; two brothers, James “Rod” Kennedy and Kenneth Kennedy, both of Cadiz; one son, Dwight Kennedy (and wife Sherry) of Cadiz; one daughter, Belinda Baars (and husband Gary) of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Karen Baars, Erin Wilson, Allison Carneyhan, Jennifer Gardner, Monica Harmon, Andrea Turner and Matthew Kennedy; 10 great-grandchildren, Paul John Muniz, Brayden Wilson, Taylor Wilson, Luke Carneyhan, Jr., Jamus Carneyhan, Aubrey Groves, Cash Gardner, Brady Gardner, Gracelynne Turner and Kennedy Turner.

Serving as pallbearers were Matt Kennedy, Luke Carneyhan, Luke Carneyhan Jr., Kevin Litchfield, Alan Wilson, Dennis Gray, Charlie Kennedy, Johnny Kennedy and Jamie Kennedy. Music was provided by Joan and Marc Terrell, pianist and vocalist.
