The Cadiz/Trigg County Tourist Commission is already working with the Cadiz/Trigg County Chamber of Commerce to promote the annual Cadiz Christmas Parade.

That is what Tourist Commission Executive Director Bill Stevens said when the board met Thursday afternoon at the Commerce Center near Interstate 24. He said the plans for the parade are being finalized and that he and Cindy Sholar with the Chamber have ideas on how to promote the parade.

The parade will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, with a line-up behind the Trigg County Schools at 4 p.m., and the entry fee – which benefits Toys for Tots – is a $20 cash donation or $20 worth of toys, said Stevens. The judging will also take place behind the school.

“We want to encourage businesses and organizations and groups,” said Stevens, who added that Transcraft is constructing a float for the parade. He also said that anyone who is interested will need to register at the Commerce Center and sign a City of Cadiz liability waiver.

And although Tourist Commission member Gary Polete – who helps organize Civil War Days – wasn’t present, Stevens said they are working on the event for next year. It is scheduled for March 22 – 24.
