Dr. Thornton Bryan with the Democratic Committee said that at their most recent meeting, Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander, Magistrate Mike Wright and Doug Taylor with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet are all interested in the position and made presentations to the committee.
“They would all be well qualified,” said Bryan, who stressed that Beshear can appoint whomever he wants to the soon-to-be-vacant spot and doesn’t have to accept any of the Committee’s recommendations. “It’s a recommendation, pure and simple,” he went on to say.
There was a fourth name, but that person withdrew, and Bryan did not divulge the individual’s.
Humphries defeated Carroll Hubbard in the race for District One State Senator in the General Election earlier this month. He will be sworn in to his new position Jan. 8.
