Funeral services for Winnie Brandon, 92, of Herndon, were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Roaring Springs Christian Church in Trigg County. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the service hour. The Revs. Billy Joe Nichols and Eric Harris officiated. Burial was at Powell Cemetery in Lafayette. Goodwin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Winnie died of natural causes at 5:40 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Trigg County Hospital in Cadiz.

She was born on April 16, 1920, in Linnville to Dr. John Leroy and Winnie Roberts Boatwright.

Winnie Brandon was a member of Roaring Springs Christian Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher, served in communion preparation and church custodian. She was a homemaker, a member of Trigg County Homemakers and Christian Women’s Fellowship.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John W. Brandon, Sr.; and three sisters, Mildred Simmons, Olive Waggoner and Mamie Joiner.

She is survived by one son, John W. Brandon, Jr. (and wife Linda) of Herndon; two daughters, Betty Cook (and husband Firmon) of Princeton and Becky Oliver (and husband Ramon) of Cadiz; nine grandchildren, Tammy DeHart, Lori Ricks, John Mark Brandon, Brandon Oliver, Bailey Oliver, Lucy Oliver, Elizabeth McKeehan, Milton Cook, Ben Cook; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Mark Brandon, Trent Ricks, Brandon Oliver, Bailey Oliver, Milton Cook, Ben Cook and David DeHart. Music was provided by Lucy Harris, organist.
