The Trigg County Longspurs chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and the US Forest Service have partnered together to provide almost 50 acres of wildlife habitat in the Land Between the Lakes area for 2012-2013.

The mission of the NWTF and the US Forest Service is to continue conserving and improving upland habitat for the good of the wildlife.

This project was headed by Jason Lupardus, the NWTF Regional Biologist for Kentucky and Tennessee. He has worked diligently with the US Forest Service and the Kentucky State Chapter of the NWTF along with the Trigg County Longspurs Chapter. Funding for this project was approved by the Kentucky State Board of Directors in the amount of $3800 to purchase seed, fertilizer, lime and equipment rental. Over 250 hours of volunteer labor to bush hog, plow, disk, and plant these food plots was provided by members of the Trigg County Longspurs Chapter. Prior to preparing these food plots, members disked approximately one mile of fire lane in the North LBL.

The NWTF and members of the Trigg County Longspurs are committed to conserving wildlife habitat.
