The Wildcats (2-0, 1-0 in 5th District) survived 53-49 last Tuesday at Dawson but showed improved effort in a 69-53 victory over the Rockets.
“Against Dawson, it felt like we only played hard for one quarter, and we were fortunate to squeak by with a win,” Trigg head coach Mike Wright said. “We only beat them by four, and Crittenden beat them the next night by 29.”
Wright said Friday’s performance was more indicative of what the ‘Cats can do this season. Trigg took its first lead at 5-4 and never trailed again, staying ahead by double digits most of the night.
“Our kids played so hard against Crittenden County and were very unselfish,” Wright said.
Crittenden used an 8-0 run in the third quarter to draw within five, but Cole Gardner and Dee Murphy each drained three-pointers – Murphy’s at the third-quarter buzzer – to put the gap back at 11.
