To the Editor:

The crew at The Place Mat Café wants to thank all the volunteers that helped with the first soup supper last Wednesday night. The Place Mat Café is located just inside the doors of the new Cadiz United Methodist Church on Lakota Drive. Plans are in the works to have more soup and sandwich meals for anyone wanting fellowship and a good meal. The many volunteers helped plan, set-up, cook, serve and clear a simple home cooked meal of turkey noodle soup, chili, and sandwiches for about 60 people in our community. Although this ministry is new, the concept isn’t. We know especially at this time of the year and during these economic times, many of our neighbors can use a good meal. For now, we are planning two more Wednesday nights: the 12th and 19th of this month. With a response like we got last week, we are sure to be doing more in the New Year. So, if you want to help us, or want to participate in this supper, come down on Wednesday night, we serve fro 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Again, we want to thank the volunteers from last week for making it all look so effortless.
