“The most beautiful thing about our team this year is that they are playing so hard and are unselfish,” Trigg head coach Mike Wright said. “At times when I think a shot is about to go up, three more passes will be made until the best shot is available. It’s something you strive for as a coach every year, but ultimately, the players have to decide to play that way, and these young men have.”
Trigg never trailed against the Cardinals, and despite decreasing defensive pressure in the second half and with starters on the bench for the entire fourth quarter, the ‘Cats continued to extend the lead.
“It snowballed for us and against them,” Wright said. “The better we got, the worse we got. When our young kids come in, sometimes the lead shortens, but in this case, it got bigger because they played so well.”
Deonquez Nance led the way with 21 points and a co-team-high eight rebounds.
“He has been an unselfish leader for us this year,” Wright said.
