Trigg (0-4, 0-2 in district) led by a point at halftime and took its largest lead at 21-17 with 6:30 left in the third quarter, but the Lady Cardinals answered with a 27-0 run and led by 20-plus points the rest of the way.
“We had some opportunities early in the third quarter and didn’t capitalize,” Trigg head coach Amy Breckel said. “We stopped handling the press as well as we had, and we stopped guarding as well.”
Breckel said fatigue played a factor, as the Lady ‘Cats faced a full-court press defense all night.
“Later in the game in our press offense, our cuts weren’t as hard,” Breckel said. “Our guards went off a screen and just hung out in the corner, when they needed to come back to the ball. We broke the press in the first quarter as well as I’ve seen all year long, so we’re definitely improving, but we’ve got to continue that even when we’re tired.”
