Funeral services for Douglas Freeman, 85, of Cadiz, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at King’s Funeral Home in Cadiz. The Rev. Mark Thweatt will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery in Trigg County. King’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Douglas Freeman died following a short illness at 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1927, in Trigg County to Samuel Thomas Freeman and Ora Pearl Armstrong Freeman.

Douglas was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a farmer and was a United States Army veteran; former member of the Young and Adult Farmers Organization; member of the NFO, National Farmers Organization; long-time participant in the Trigg County Country Ham Festival.

Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his wife, Euneda Dixon Freeman; his parents, Samuel and Ora Pearl Freeman; and one brother, Charles Freeman.

He is survived by one sister, Geneva Wilson of Cadiz; one brother, Ewing Freeman (and wife Bonnie) of Cadiz; two sons, Randy Freeman (and wife Carolyn) of Cadiz and Donnie Freeman (and wife Becky) of Cadiz; one daughter, Shirley Futrell (and husband Mike) of Cadiz; six grandchildren, Steven and Victoria Freeman of Bowling Green, Bethanie and Brian Curtis of Cadiz, Deanna and Belden Parry of Bowling Green, Andrew and Jessica Freeman of Bowling Green, Jordan Futrell and Katelyn Futrell, both of Cadiz; seven great-grandchildren, Julia, Caroline, Ava and Samuel Freeman of Bowling Green, Jackson and Natalee Parry of Bowling Green and Peyton Curtis of Cadiz.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Freeman, Brian Curtis, Belden Parry, Andrew Freeman, Jordan Futrell and Todd Freeman. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Freeman and Jackson Parry. Music will be provided by Clarissa King, pianist.
