Trigg County Judge Executive Stan Humphries will resign effective Monday, Dec. 31, the day before he goes to his new position as State Senator for the First State Senate District.

Humphries made that announcement at the end of Monday night’s Trigg County Fiscal Court meeting – his final meeting as the county’s Judge Executive. To date, Governor Steve Beshear (D) has not appointed Humphries’ replacement, although the county’s Democratic and Republican party committees have sent lists of names to the Governor.

“I hope that you know that my time in office has been truly trying to find what was the best interest of Trigg County, and not a self-serving interest … for me,” Humphries said. “I hope when I leave, my time at Trigg County in the executive branch can, people can say that I based my decisions upon need and our ability to serve the public, and nothing else.”
